Description

Since its founding in 1873, Kamotsuru has carried over 150 years of traditional brewing techniques into this flagship sake.

Premium sake rice, grown in the rich nature of Hiroshima, is carefully selected, then polished down by 40% so only the refined core remains for brewing. Combined with pristine spring water, that process gives the sake its pure, refined character.

It carries a rich aroma, a deep body, and an incredibly soft mouthfeel that spreads across the palate. While excellent chilled, warming it brings out its savory umami even further, and it's widely regarded as one of the finest warm sakes made. It has earned recognition in both domestic and international warm sake competitions, and continues to be served at historic, world-renowned restaurants, including the legendary Sukiyabashi Jiro.

Chilled, it shows a rich aroma and deep complexity, with a smooth, gentle mouthfeel. Warmed or hot, its umami and body expand further, showing why it's considered a standout among warm sakes.

It pairs well with grilled or roasted meats, semi-aged cheeses, and rich Japanese dishes like teriyaki salmon or chicken, similar to a full-bodied white wine, best with dishes that carry some richness. It also suits kaiseki and omakase-style Japanese cuisine broadly.

Hagi Yaki (Ware)

Hagi-Yaki is a 400-year-old ceramic tradition from Hagi city in southwestern Japan.

Known for its soft, earthy aesthetic, Hagi-Yaki develops fine surface cracks, caused by the clay and glaze shrinking at different rates during firing.

These cracks allow tea and moisture to seep in over time, gradually changing the vessel's appearance and depth. A distinctive feature is the small notch cut into the base of each piece.

One popular story suggests that originally only the feudal lord could use Hagi-Yaki, but by deliberately cutting the base to mark it as "flawed," craftsmen allowed commoners to use it too. Enjoy the soft, gentle character of the clay and the gradual transformation of color and patina as you use it over time
